DIY for Frugal Living – Cloth baby wipes

by Mary on April 14, 2012

Please remember to “PIN” this great Cloth Baby Wipes idea so you will have it when you need it.

With baby number two fast approaching, I am doing my best to get projects done little by little.  The biggest change with our new little addition is that we have decided to switch into the world of cloth diapering.  Although I have always made my own wipes, I now figure since I will have to wash all her diapers I think it is only logical and more economical to wash all her wipes too.  I then will just tweak my liquid concoction into a cloth friendly solution and prepare the cloth diapers the same as I would the paper towel ones!
Supplies:
  • Flannel material (I had an unused Snuggie my husband received as a gift;)
  • Fabric scissors
  • Ruler
  • Sewing machine with thread
Step One-

Measure your wipes container and make a measured guide on your fabric to the size of your liking.*

Step Two:
Cut out “template” wipe and continue to use this first wipe as a guide to cut out the rest of your wipes.
Step Three:
Sew around the outside of each wipe so that with continued use it will not fray or bead.
*I used a “template” wipe of 7″x7″ but as I made my way around the fabric some became bigger and some smaller and more rectangular.  I figured as long as they fit in the box and were bigger than my hand they would be usable.  Don’t stress about perfection, you just need them to work and to last;)
