Help for Haiti ~ Place A Link and Help Donate

January 15th 2010 (12:30 AM) Everyone in my home is sleeping. I walk down the hallway and look upon my three children all cozy in their beds. Arms wrapped around cozy blankets and pillows while favorite stuffed animals are hanging half off beds. In one room there are pictures that were colored today, in another a piece of music almost finished being composed and written, and in the last, a pile of favorite books that were read before bed. I hear the refrigerator kick in, and the smooth sound of the fire burning in the pellet stove. Baskets of cleaned clothes just waiting to be put away. No one hears me as I walk through my home with my soft, warm slippers. I make a nice hot tea and come in my room where my husband is sleeping. His clothes all laid out for him to go to work tomorrow. I notice he has placed a new book on tape on the table to listen to on his way to work tomorrow. As I take all of this in, my heart is heavy and my eyes are filled with tears.....WE ARE SO BLESSED.

At the same moments the above scene takes place, there are many children in Haiti without beds, without blankets, without a favorite stuffed animal to hug. For most of these children, today wasn't a day where children colored, played music, or read their favorite books. Some moms and dads didn't kiss their children good night. They have lost their homes, have no food, or any fresh water to drink. Some have lost their husbands, and cannot look upon the bright future that tomorrow will bring. They aren't listening to their favorite story on tape as they drive into work tomorrow, they only here the sounds of suffering around them.

You've seen the footage, you've seen the suffering, and for most we sit there and wonder, "How can we help?" Well there is something we can all do. First and most important thing you can do is pray for these people, and believe that God is in control. When something horrific like this happens we sometime loose our focus and forget that God is in control at all times.

Second, you can donate what your family can afford to give. Don't worry about the amount, just give something. **As little as $ .30 can buy a meal! There are so many ways to go without a little to give so big! Every dollar counts. I suggest you get the children involved and see if they can contribute from their little banks!

Money Saving Mom, along with so many other bloggers are doing what they can do to help. We are using our blogs as a way to encourage everyone to help no matter how big or small.

If you own a blog, please consider blogging about how to help and encourage all your readers to join in. If you post anything on your blog on how you are planning to help, please come back here and leave a link/comment and let us know.

From now until Jan. 21, 2010, our family will
donate $ .25 for each reader that links up/leaves a comment about
how they are helping.
**While $ .25 doesn't seem like a whole lot, you will see how much it can ad up!
*Remember $ .30 buy someone a meal.

**I know all of my readers are GREAT! Let's pull together at this time as a sense of community and get food, clothes, shelter, and medical needs to those in need!!!

If you don't have a blog, leave a comment. For those of you who have blogs, please continue to use your blog to encourage others to help.

**Our family is going to cash in some of our swag bucks into Paypal money and then have it transferred into our checking account to help!! Please share your ideas!!!

Here is just ONE simple ways to help!

Give to the Red Cross. You can donate online here or you can text “Haiti” to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.

I now have hope for Haiti! Utilizing the social networking media for such a worthy cause as this is amazing and I am grateful to have a way to help in the small way that I can. Thank you for such a wonderful idea and a way to make a difference in this world.

We donated to the US fund for UNICEF and also to a local (Kentucky)-based charity called Ten Kids whose goal is to provide a safe home, education, etc. to Ten Kids http://www.tenkids.org/. I like the idea of giving to an organization meeting general needs of the people of Haiti and to one meeting the needs of specific children. We are so blessed--I can't imagine the losses of the Haitian people.

http://www.just1dollar4haiti.org/ is the website specifically for earthquake relief for the nonprofit Haiti Cheri Havest Life Ministries (www.haiticheri.org). They are an mission organization that partners with Haitian people to improve their quality of life (education, food, medical, etc). Any money donated now goes to earthquake relief. You can check out the website for a link to up-to-date info and correspondence from Haitian friends about the earthquake and effects, and you can make tax-deductible contributions securely online. You are right that every little bit helps- most Haitian people live on less per day than we can scrape out of the ashtray for a Coke in the drive-thru. Having done mission work in Haiti, I have seen first-hand the desolation of everyday life for the Haitian people. This epic disaster is truly heartbreaking, and the long-term consequences are beyond what I can even fathom. Thanks for posting, and thanks for your generosity.

Family got together and sent out a donation to Samaritan's Purse. We marked on our calendar for the next thirty days, no meals out, no coffees at the drive-thru no movies and sent that out to the people that really need it. God Bless! Swagbucks is also letting you donate your swag bucks for Haiti relief, that is a painless way to help as well. You can only donate 100 at a time, but it will let you do that several times.

SwagGrabber posted a deal about a $40 subscription for 40 issues of All You the other day, just wanted to share. Only $1 per issue but then $10 of that $40 goes to Haitian Relief, which makes it even less and helps a good cause.
